How fucking long does it take to uninstall AutoCAD 2011? Update, it took 15 minutes.

These programs are huge... no surprise it takes a while to install and/or uninstall.

Wait until I get to Inventor 2011 and then download and install 2014.

They're basically the same damn thing.

Could be worse. Solidworks is running hard enough to induce thermal shutdown on my 2nd-gen i5 system.

When my office got Revit 2014, it took a day to install the upgrade. A DAY.

Could be worse, you could be trying to do 3D in AutoCAD (not Inventor, AutoCAD).

I met some 1st year people at my faculty trying to do 3D in Autocad.
Ain't that bad, they said.
They'll learn, I thought.

I dunno if it suits your needs, but Draftsight is free, opens all the newest .dwg formats and weighs in at about... I dunno 200megs?

Sure it has less functions, but so far I haven't had a problem and it feels kinda nice not having to pirate it and dick around with cracks.
What, you think _anyone_ at my faculty has a legal version? Nah, brah. And if you show up with prints from the student version, the prof's gonna look at the watermark and give you some funny looks.

The thing is once you learn SolidWorks or Pro/E, doing 3D in AutoCAD is just clunky. Doable, and I've done it for work, but it's just clunky.
